Jobs4U2 Employment
15+ years old
Often, our youth are the first in their families to get an after-school job, go on to further education, and have a career. Therefore, our project officers provide mentorship and career skill education so we can build these essential skills in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth at a young age.
So, by the time they reach adulthood, they already have the skills and confidence to enter the workforce and pursue the career of their dreams.
“A couple of the Ganbina employees have been with us for a very long time, with a low turnover. Ganbina looks at placing kids in careers they want. It’s not just about giving out jobs. It’s about finding the right jobs. This approach is very different to other job seeker organisations.”
Jobs4U2 employment key elements
Employment Academy
We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth aged 15 to enrol in Ganbina’s Employment Academy. This academy teaches the skills Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth need to participate fully in the workforce.
This includes skills such as how to write a resume, conduct a job interview, understand expectations at work, and advance through the workforce to the best of one’s abilities.
Often, our youth may be the first in their family to have an after-school job and lack people within their families who have these essential employment skills, which many of us take for granted.
“Ganbina helps with resumes, beyond what parents may be confident doing. Doing the resume for her – like that took a load off me (as a parent) because I don’t know how to write a first resume.”
